JSI Europe History

In 1999 we began operating as John Snow International Research and Training UK (JSI R&T UK) and served as DFID's Resource Centre for Sexual and Reproductive Health for 4.5 years. During this period, JSI R&T UK sourced technical expertise, provided policy development, project cycle management, and enhanced lesson learning and best practice for DFID international teams in over 80 country offices and programmes.

Since 2002, we have been the implementing organisation for DFID's HIV and AIDS Programme in Zimbabwe. We have also managed the 'Strengthening Health Services in Conflict Areas' project in Nepal between 2002-04, which aimed to restore and/or maintain health service delivery in districts hardest hit by the conflict in Nepal.

JSI R&T UK has also provided technical services to other clients such as the WHO, UNESCO, AUSAID, UNAIDS, the African Comprehensive HIV and AIDS Partnership (ACHAP) in Botswana, and TASO in Uganda

On 1 April 2005, to better reflect its work, JSI R&T UK changed its name to JSI Europe.
